A few weeks ago I traveled to a small village in Ungeni raion of Moldova to buy a Turkey. The village was lovely and it made me wish that my service had been spent in a village (the grass really is always greener).
We were welcomed with traditional Moldovan hospitality. The village was lovely and it was a great day. See pictures below for the story of the day.
Visiting the sister, up the street, a two minute drive.
These babies thought the dog was their mom.
Watching the kittens and dog interact was really cute.
We went down into the cellar – called a betch – to get some wine.
Vin de casa – House wine – the orange is white and the purple is red.
Enjoying some tea, cookies and delicious homemade cheese with the ladies of the house.
It was the couple we bought the birds from, 40th wedding anniversary so we were invited to join the masa. We polietly declined.
We also opted out of alchol, and instead had homemade apple juice.
Turkeys in the trunk of the car and fields in the background.
Fields on Svecla – sweet beets lined the road.
My friend’s father accompanied us and wanted to stop to grab a bag full of them.
