Turul Moldovei

This weekend marked the end of restrictions on travel for PCTs and the end of Turul Moldovei. Saturday there was a team building event in Chirescu (the next town over from where I live) followed by a soccer game with some of the walkers from Turul Moldovei, other PCVs and Moldovans.

Turul Moldovei was organized by Peace Corps volunteers and two groups of volunteers (including some Moldovans) have been walking across the country; one team started in Soroca, the other in Taraclia. Along the way they visited different towns and villages along two 150 km routes to promote volunteerism and community activism. On Sunday, in collaboration with several other local organizations, Peace Corps Volunteers planned a celebration to mark 20 years of volunteering in Moldova and the end of Turul Moldovei, in Chisinau at Parcul La Izvor.

During this event there was an NGO fair with organizations recruiting volunteers and promoting their work. There were also several Moldovan and American performers, Salsa Dancing lessons, Interactive Live Art Projects and a chance to see more of Chisinau.

About I think about that every day

I guess this blog will be a really long answer to the generic 'about me' question.
